KELLI CARLSON

13 QUESTIONS FOR THE ARTIST IN LOCKDOWN:

1. Has your muse or musings changed in isolation? My muse or musings have changed in quarantine because I’m so much more focused on nature. Coming from Los Angeles it’s a nice change of pace to be surrounded by the colors and shapes of the flowers, trees, plants, waves, and lava rock authentic to the island. A sharpe contrast from freeways, cars, and cement!

2. What is your favorite week 7 ration? My favorite 7th week ration is realizing the best things in life are free. I’d take hiking and swimming in a waterfall over shopping for anything material, any day.

3. Whatʻs your post apocalyptic pseudonym? My post-apocalyptic pseudonym is “Future Lova.” Ha, I miss boys. Instead of pushing them 6 feet away, now I realize it’s too far too long! Is it over yet?!

4. What kind of music are you plugged into these days? The music I’ve been listening to is laid back island music and a lot of chill reggae like “Unity,” by Humble Soul, and “How to fly,” by Sticky Fingers.

5. Whatʻs the first Kona Biz youʻre looting? The first store in Kona I’m looting is Akamai Art Store. Just kidding! Hehe;)

6.  What would your homeless sign say? My homeless sign would say, “Everybody needs an angel, any down here?”

7. What is going to be the title of your binge worthy Netflix biography? The title of my binge worthy Netflix biography would be, “Apocalypse This.”

8. What is your biggest non-essential guilty pleasure? My biggest non essential guilty pleasure is skinny dipping in the ocean;)

9. Favorite local artist? My favorite artist in Hawaii is @artrascal … his work is so distinct and I love the way it makes me feel.

10. Īn the future, people will be able to chose 2 lockdown locations. Where is your second    pied de terre? If I had to choose another location to be in lockdown, my pied de terre would be on a yacht in the Caribbean.

11. How many rolls of toilet paper do you have left? How many rolls of toilet paper do I have left? Enough to share now, and still enough to TP your best friends house after all this blows over… let’s make a plan.

12. When was the last time you had a Corona? The last time I had a Corona? I put those down a long time ago, and hope not to pick up the new version either!

13. Any last words? I hope my art brings some light, inspiration, and hope during these dark times. I’m donating a portion of my proceeds to PPE for the men and women on the front line fighting the Coronavirus epidemic.
